From The Chair...
Hello, and welcome to the Swan Theatre Company.
As you will see from our history, we have been an active theatre group in and around Bedford for many years now. At the Swan, we cater for all interests, ages and abilities from 16 years upwards. Whether your interests are in “treading the boards”, technical aspects such as lighting and sound, or just being part of a social group helping out with tickets, behind the bar or programs, your enthusiasm would be always welcome here at the Swan Theatre Company.
As a group, we aim to perform 5 productions per 12 month season, ranging from shows containing casts as small as three, right up to larger productions with casts of 15 plus! We regularly try to organise social events involving all the members, and hold regular informal play readings for potential future productions, these are often accompanied with the odd bottle of wine.
We have a core of experienced directors who are normally on hand to offer support and advice to anyone interested in directing for the first time. With this in mind, we have developed Swan Studio Productions. These are small budget shows designed specifically for new directors or experimental plays. Run over three nights, Swan Studio provides a vital insight into directing in the round. Our experienced stage crew and technical teams are always keen to work with and receive new recruits.
Based out of our current home at The Place, Bradgate Road, we have a self contained theatre / rehearsal space / costume and props store in which to rehearse and perform.
